In the world, "surrender" all too often implies defeat. It conjures up images of failure, loss and inadequacy. In the eyes of the world, there is nothing good that can be said about "surrender".
Conversely, surrender brings delight and joy into the eyes of our God. It increases the rejoicing sounds of the angel's voices in heaven. In surrender, our Father sees hope and opportunity. He marks progress and success. He waits with measured enthusiasm to be able to bless each surrendered person with the prosperity and greatness of his plan.
Surrender is neither singular in occasion nor dimension. It requires repetition and perseverance. It can be rooted in desperation or joy. It might be as small as a bothersome thought or as significant as an entire life.
Each action of surrender brings with it a blessing, a renewed desire for closeness with God. It initiates a refocusing of our eyes on Him and a recommitment to take up our cross, to do His work and to obey His commands. It better prepares us for whatever lies ahead on our journey. Surrender inherently concedes that His way is preferable to our own and that our plan is one of struggle and pain.
Everyday is a great day for surrender. Isn't it time to give up?
