~ George E. Cooper ~
George’s love for music goes back for as long as he can remember. He recalls singing songs with his father in the car on family vacations and harmonizing to the tunes that his dad grew up with as a teenager and young adult. At age six, he entered a local talent contest and sang “Jesse James”. At age eight, he was already singing in the church choir and would continue to do so until he graduated from high school. He then moved to New York and worked as a songwriter and performed at several West Village clubs including The Bitter End, The Gaslight Café and Gerde’s Folk City.
Reality, family and children then took center stage in George’s life until the late 1980’s when he met Alex Accardo and in March of 1990 they founded one of Long Island’s most enduring and loved Christian music groups, Servants of The Shepherd.
A prolific songwriter, George has written down more that 100 songs that God has given to him. He still sees himself as a “three chord guitar player who knows how to rhyme a bunch of words.” He cherishes every opportunity that Alex and he are given to minister with God’s music.
His wife Maureen (also a Christian artist) and he reside on Long Island and are thankful to God for the abundance of His blessings.
